Major danger in products of famous cheese brand!
Shiga toxin-producing E. coli, which can lead to serious food poisoning and kidney failure, has been detected in Hebridean Blue Cheese products from the Isle of Mull Cheese brand. Authorities have announced that those who have consumed the product are at health risk.
Food Standards Scotland (FSS) has issued an urgent warning due to the risk of Shiga toxin-producing Escherichia coli (STEC) bacteria being present in Hebridean Blue Cheese products from the Isle of Mull Cheese brand.
The FSS stated that this bacterium can lead to serious food poisoning and can pose a life-threatening risk, especially for children, the elderly, and individuals with weakened immune systems.
Experts note that one of the most severe consequences of STEC infection is hemolytic uremic syndrome (HUS). HUS can lead to kidney failure in 15 percent of cases and carries a significant risk, particularly for children under the age of five.
ALL PACKAGES AT RISK
According to a report by the Daily Mail, a recall decision has been issued for the Isle of Mull Cheese brand's Hebridean Blue Cheese products. It has been announced that all package sizes with a use-by date of April 10, 2025, and batch code 8051224 carry the risk of this dangerous bacterium.
The FSS has announced that customers who have purchased these cheeses should absolutely not consume the product and can return them to the stores where they were purchased to receive a refund.
STATEMENT FROM THE COMPANY
The Isle of Mull Cheese company stated that the pathogen was not detected in the recalled cheeses, but that they are withdrawing the products as a precaution to protect public health.
