Metin Gürcan sentenced to 16 years and 8 months in prison for espionage
Metin Gürcan, one of the founding members of the DEVA Party, has been sentenced to 16 years and 8 months in prison on charges of obtaining classified information.
Metin Gürcan, a former soldier and academic, was convicted on the grounds of obtaining information that should have remained confidential for the sake of state security.
Within the scope of the investigation conducted by the Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, it was alleged that Gürcan provided classified military documents to foreign mission representatives.
Gürcan, who was arrested in 2021, was released under judicial control in 2022, but the judicial process had continued.
In the concluded case, the court found Gürcan guilty and ordered his re-arrest.
