MHP Chairman Bahçeli: What has happened in Syria so far is positive for Turkey

MHP Chairman Bahçeli made statements to a private television channel. Evaluating the developments in Syria, Bahçeli said, "Developments regarding Syria's territorial integrity are positive.

What has happened in Syria so far is positive for Turkey. The SDF/YPG must be completely uprooted and expelled from Syria," he stated.

Pointing out that security is a fundamental priority for the future of Turkey, Bahçeli noted that establishing an environment of peace would also contribute to economic development.

Bahçeli said, "It is of great importance that the resources allocated to terrorism be directed toward prosperity and investment for the peace of our nation and the strengthening of our state."

Responding to a question about shaking hands with DEM Party deputies, Bahçeli noted the following:

"Many comments were made regarding my handshake with the DEM Party. That handshake was momentary. After our President finished his speech, I looked around the General Assembly hall. Our fellow deputies and AK Party members were applauding, but the opposition was just watching. At that moment, a step was needed for Turkey. I went and shook hands with the DEM Party members. There was also a deputy among them who had lost a relative, and I offered my condolences. They were surprised."
