MHP District Chair loses life in armed attack

The incident occurred today at approximately 16:00 in the Tersane neighborhood of Rize's Derepazarı district. According to information obtained, Bayram K., who had an argument with his colleagues at the Tersane Tea Factory yesterday, was reported to the factory management by the people he argued with.

Learning about the complaint today, Bayram K. left the tea factory where he worked and, while driving his ATV toward the district center, encountered Şaban Kap, who worked at the same factory. A conversation took place between Bayram K., who got off his ATV, and Şaban Kap, who never left his vehicle.

At that moment, Bayram K. pulled a pistol from his waistband and began firing at District Chair Şaban Kap. Bystanders who witnessed the incident immediately called the 112 Emergency Call Center, and ambulance and police teams were dispatched to the scene.

Kap, who was seriously wounded in the chest, was taken to the Recep Tayyip Erdoğan University (RTEÜ) Training and Research Hospital after receiving initial intervention from medical teams.

Kap, who was taken under treatment there, could not be saved despite all interventions and lost his life. A search operation has been launched for Bayram K., who fled the scene on his ATV.

An investigation into the incident has been initiated.
