Minister Tunç announces investigation into claims of a trustee for CHP: 'Baseless allegations'

Minister Tunç announces investigation into claims of a trustee for CHP: 'Baseless allegations'

Addressing the claims that a trustee will be appointed to the CHP in a post on his social media account, Minister Tunç stated, "Such baseless allegations aimed at disinformation to mislead the public should not be given credence. Regarding these posts, a judicial investigation has been initiated by the Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor's Office under Article 217/A of the Turkish Penal Code for the 'crime of publicly spreading misleading information'."

Minister Tunç made the following statements in his remarks:

Some posts are being made via social media regarding the judicial process initiated by the Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor's Office upon the complaints of some CHP delegates, as well as the lawsuits filed by some delegates at the Ankara Civil Court of First Instance for the cancellation of the 38th Ordinary Congress of the CHP, and claims that operations will be carried out against some municipalities.

INVESTIGATION LAUNCHED

Such baseless allegations aimed at disinformation to mislead the public should not be given credence. Regarding these posts, a judicial investigation has been initiated by the Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor's Office under Article 217/A of the Turkish Penal Code for the “crime of publicly spreading misleading information”.

STATEMENT FROM THE DMM REGARDING THE CLAIMS

In the statement made by the DMM (Center for Combating Disinformation), it was recalled that the judicial process is ongoing in accordance with Article 112 of the Law on Political Parties and other relevant legislative provisions.

Stating that the claims made regarding the verdict of a case that has not even had its first hearing yet are unfounded, the statement noted the following:

"Former Hatay Mayor Lütfü Savaş and some delegates have filed separate lawsuits in different courts for the cancellation of the CHP's congress held on November 4-5, 2023. The filed cancellation lawsuits have been consolidated into the file at the Ankara 42nd Civil Court of First Instance. The first hearing will be held tomorrow. Decisions made by independent courts on behalf of the Turkish nation are first announced directly to the parties involved during the hearings. Do not give credence to unfounded allegations put forward to create a perception regarding judicial processes."

INVESTIGATION INTO RASİM OZAN KÜTAHYALI

The Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor's Office has launched an ex officio investigation into Rasim Ozan Kütahyalı regarding his claims of a trustee for the CHP.
