Minister Tunç's '3rd term' statement: 'The path for a re-run could open...'
Following President and AKP Chairman Recep Tayyip Erdoğan's remarks regarding the local elections, where he stated, "for me, this is a final," the first statement has come from Minister of Justice Yılmaz Tunç.
President and AKP Chairman Recep Tayyip Erdoğan had stated regarding the March 31 local elections, "For me, this is a final. With the authority granted by the law, this election is my last election. The result that emerges will be the transfer of a trust to my brothers and sisters who will come after me."
Speaking on the matter for the first time, Minister of Justice Yılmaz Tunç stated that Erdoğan was emphasizing the conditions brought by the current Constitution, and that if Parliament decides to hold early elections, the path for Erdoğan to run again could be opened.
Tunç stated the following:
"If a decision to renew the elections is taken with a three-fifths majority, the path for a 3rd term will be opened."
