Minister Tunç's statement on Öcalan: Legal regulation regarding the commission process is at the discretion of the TBMM
Minister of Justice Yılmaz Tunç answered journalists' questions following the meeting of the National Solidarity, Brotherhood and Democracy Commission.
Regarding the work of the National Solidarity, Brotherhood and Democracy Commission, Tunç said, "We will continue our work in accordance with the decisions they make, the roadmap they draw, and the common will they put forward on behalf of the nation."
When asked about his presentation to the commission, Tunç stated that he was invited to the commission regarding the "Terror-Free Turkey" process and that he answered the deputies' questions in his capacity as Minister of Justice, adding that the commission's work is very important.
"WE HAVE EXPERIENCED GREAT PAIN"
Emphasizing that Turkey is going through a historic process, that it has been fighting terrorism for 41 years, and that there have been great economic losses and pain, Tunç said, "We have experienced great pain. Our only wish is that our country does not experience these losses and pain from now on. In this sense, we support the efforts for the success of the Terror-Free Turkey process that has begun. As the Ministry of Justice, we have shared our work with our deputies and commission members regarding the facilitation of the process and the resolution of problems arising from administrative practices we have implemented to date to ensure the success of the process."
Tunç stated that if there are issues regarding the process that require legal regulation, it is at the discretion of the TBMM, saying, "The will of the Parliamentary Commission is important because our Parliament is the manifestation of the national will. We will continue our work in accordance with the decisions they make, the roadmap they draw, and the common will they put forward on behalf of the nation."
When asked, "Has the commission's visit to İmralı been on the agenda?" Tunç replied, "Those are matters at the discretion of the commission."
