In a statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, it was noted that "The Ministers of Foreign Affairs and Defense and the Chiefs of General Staff of the Republic of Türkiye, the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia met in Istanbul on August 31, 2026, in the format of the Strategic Political and Defense Committee established by the Makkah Joint Defense Agreement.

The three countries reaffirm their determination to work together within the framework provided by the Makkah Agreement, with an understanding of regional ownership, to ensure sustainable peace and stability in their regions.

In line with this goal, they will continue to support efforts aimed at de-escalation and ensuring restraint in order to promote the peaceful resolution of crises," the statement said.

Stating that the three countries will make the necessary contributions to regional peace and stability by implementing the Makkah Agreement in an institutionalized and determined manner, the statement continued, "Today, the three countries have agreed to take steps to further institutionalize cooperation under the Makkah Agreement in a way that will strengthen their solidarity, ensure the credibility and effectiveness of their collective deterrence and defense, and contribute to regional efforts and cooperation-based security aimed at a just, inclusive, and lasting peace.

A Secretariat will be established in Saudi Arabia, headed by a Secretary-General, to support the work to be carried out within the framework of the Makkah Agreement. The Secretariat will initially be headed by a Secretary-General from the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, who will serve for a term of three years.

Through joint activities, they will also work to strengthen the interoperability of their defense capabilities and armed forces through defense industry cooperation, joint technology development, and joint production.

The three countries will make the necessary contributions to regional peace and stability by implementing the Makkah Agreement in an institutionalized and determined manner," it was stated.
