A new stage has been reached in the threat investigation launched following the complaint of businessman Nevzat Aydın. The 8 suspects detained within the scope of the investigation were referred to the courthouse after their procedures at the police station.
Aydın applied to the Beykoz Public Security Bureau, stating that he was called on October 28 at around 18:00 via a messaging application from a Greek number with the +30 country code. According to Aydın's statement, the person who introduced himself as K.A. from a criminal organization called "Çirkinler" demanded 1 million euros and threatened to kill his child if the money was not paid.
Aydın stated that the threats began after his son participated in the ceremony at the Trabzonspor-Beşiktaş match on October 22. The businessman stated that he was threatened following reports claiming he paid 100 million liras for his son to participate in the ceremony, and expressed that he reserves his right to file a complaint against the individuals who published the reports in question.
Following the complaint, an investigation was launched by the Bakırköy Chief Public Prosecutor's Office. Teams from the Istanbul Police Department's Organized Crime Branch conducted an operation targeting the suspects whose identities were determined.
In the first operation, 4 people were detained. During searches conducted at the suspects' addresses and in their vehicles with Bulgarian license plates, 1 automatic pistol, 1 short-barreled automatic pistol, and 73 cartridges were seized. Following the statements of these individuals, 4 more suspects were detained on October 31. Thus, the number of suspects in custody in the case rose to 8.
