I am writing this letter to you not only as a mayor, but as a son of these lands, a fellow traveler who believes in the will of the people, democracy, and conscience.
In these difficult times we are going through, I send you the most... pic.twitter.com/AqRSYd7XrC
Böcek used the following expressions in his letter:
"Valuable people of Antalya, my dear fellow citizens,
I am writing this letter to you not only as a mayor, but as a son of these lands, a fellow traveler who believes in the will of the people, democracy, and conscience.
In these difficult times we are going through, I greet you with the deepest feelings from my heart. I want to express once again my belief that solidarity, JUSTICE, and conscience will prevail sooner or later. Even as I write these lines, my pen is racing with my emotions.
There is so much to say... There is no point in being so deceitful for a life, for a world that we cannot control or rule even for a second. We will live straight, we will stand straight, we will walk straight, we will stand tall. With God's permission, I have always gone this way, and I will continue to do so from now on. 'A person's strength is hidden not only in where they are, but in the traces they leave behind...'
I have dedicated my life to the people of this city, this beautiful country of mine. I left my love, my labor, and my sweat on the streets of Antalya. Without discrimination, without getting tired, without giving up, without saying right-wing or left-wing, I became the 'Mayor of Everyone.' Unfortunately, this holiday, I am away from you, my family, and my loved ones, behind four walls, and I am sad.
I celebrate your Ramadan Feast. I wish this holiday to be a means for health, happiness, peace, and beautiful days of justice for you, your family, our country, and the world.
I am here with hope, faith, and resilience.
Stay with love, justice, the Republic, and Atatürk..."
