NSC meeting to be held today: What is on the agenda?
The National Security Council, chaired by AKP Chairman and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, will meet today at the Palace. In addition to the 'new opening process' that the government calls a 'Terror-Free Turkey,' the latest situation in Syria and regional security risks will be discussed at the meeting.
The National Security Council (NSC) will meet for the second time this year under the chairmanship of AKP Chairman and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.
At the NSC meeting at the Palace, operations against the terrorist organization PKK, the new opening process, and developments following the call for disarmament and dissolution from terrorist leader Abdullah Öcalan will be addressed.
It is understood that the NSC will examine military and intelligence information from the field to increase the effectiveness of operations and discuss measures that can be taken against the PKK's stalling tactics.
According to TRT Haber, the latest developments in Syria are also expected to be discussed by the council. Minister of Foreign Affairs Hakan Fidan, Minister of National Defense Yaşar Güler, and MIT Chief İbrahim Kalın will provide information regarding the agreement reached between the Damascus administration, which is under the control of the jihadist HTS, and the SDF, as well as the Syria contacts held last week.
Another important agenda item for the meeting will be Israel's attacks in Palestine. The diplomatic traffic led by Erdoğan and the efforts to achieve a ceasefire will be discussed.
Furthermore, topics such as increasing contact traffic with Europe to strengthen the security architecture, the Russia-Ukraine War, and the latest situation in Cyprus will also be brought to the agenda at the NSC meeting.
