Özgür Özel issues call to citizens with specific time: CHP Central Executive Board to hold emergency meeting in Esenyurt

Republican People's Party (CHP) Chairman Özgür Özel made statements on his social media account regarding the arrest of Esenyurt Mayor Ahmet Özer.

Stating that he had previously canceled the camp they planned to hold in Antalya between November 1-3 and informed the deputies to go to Istanbul, Özel provided the following information: "We will come together with our deputies in Istanbul on November 1-3 to evaluate the developments. We will convene our Party Assembly in Istanbul on Sunday, November 3."

Stating that he has also called his party's Central Executive Board (MYK) to an emergency meeting today at 13:30 at the Esenyurt CHP District Headquarters, Özel invited all the people of Esenyurt and all Istanbulites to the front of the Esenyurt Municipality at 16:00.

Özel noted the following:

"Those who gave a clean record to our Esenyurt Mayor Prof. Dr. Ahmet Özer 6 months ago have arrested our Mayor today with abstract allegations and statements in a book he wrote years ago. Undoubtedly, the real target is the will of our citizens in Esenyurt. Undoubtedly, we will show the strongest reaction to these actions, disrupt this disgusting plan that does not recognize the nation and does not respect the choices of the people, and we will defeat this vile mentality."
