Pentagon puts approximately 2,000 personnel on high alert
The US Department of Defense (Pentagon) has stated that it has placed approximately 2,000 personnel on "high alert" for a potential deployment on the 11th day of the ongoing conflict between Israel and Palestine.
In a statement from the US Department of Defense, it was noted that US Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin has placed approximately 2,000 personnel and various units on "high alert" in preparation for potential deployment orders.
The statement emphasized that no decision has been made to deploy any units at this time, adding that Austin will continue to assess the situation and remain in close contact with allies and partners.
Furthermore, the statement indicated that Austin has approved the extension of the deployment for the USS Gerald R. Ford carrier strike group currently operating in the US Naval Forces Europe-Africa/Sixth Fleet area of operations.
In a statement issued by the US Department of Defense on October 8, it was announced that instructions had been given to send an aircraft carrier strike group to the Eastern Mediterranean to be ready to assist Israel following the attacks launched by Hamas.
The statement emphasized that the USS Gerald R. Ford aircraft carrier, along with its accompanying cruisers and destroyers, had been directed toward the Eastern Mediterranean.
Additionally, the Israeli military announced on October 11 that the first US aircraft carrying advanced ammunition had arrived in Israel.
