President Erdoğan and Trump hold phone call

AKP Chairman and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan spoke with US President Donald Trump over the phone. During the call, Turkey-US bilateral relations as well as regional and global issues were discussed.

President Erdoğan and Trump hold phone call

According to the statement made on the social media account of the Presidency's Directorate of Communications, Turkey-US bilateral relations as well as regional and global issues were discussed during the call.

AKP Chairman and President Erdoğan stated during the meeting that he views the decision to extend the ceasefire in the regional conflict process as a positive development, that he believes a reasonable solution to the contentious issues is possible, and that support for the constructive initiatives put forward will continue.

Noting that the establishment of a stable environment in Syria is an important gain for the entire region, President Erdoğan stated that Turkey's support for Syria will continue uninterrupted and that the deterioration of the situation in Lebanon must be prevented.

Erdoğan expressed that preparations for the NATO Ankara Summit are ongoing and that they are making maximum efforts to ensure the Summit is successful in every respect.

President Erdoğan also conveyed his condolences to US President Trump regarding the heinous attack carried out against a mosque in the US city of San Diego the previous day, stating that Turkey is against such hate crimes regardless of which religious group they are directed at.

TRUMP'S ASSESSMENT OF THE CALL

US President Donald Trump said regarding his phone conversation with President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, "I had a very productive phone call with President Erdoğan. We have a very good relationship."
