President Erdoğan holds phone call with Ursula von der Leyen

Erdoğan continues his intensive diplomatic contacts. According to a statement from the Directorate of Communications, AKP Chairman and President Erdoğan held a phone call with European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen. 

The meeting addressed Turkey-European Union relations as well as regional and global developments.

'STRAIT OF HORMUZ MUST BE OPENED'

During the call, Erdoğan stated that Turkey is making efforts to maintain the ceasefire and ensure peace during the ongoing conflict process in the region, and that the Strait of Hormuz must be opened as soon as possible.

The President noted that Israel desires the continuation of conflicts in the region and continues to commit violations of international law, including acts of piracy, and that it is essential to increase international pressure on Israel.

CALL TO UPDATE CUSTOMS UNION

On the other hand, it was reported that the meeting focused on resolving issues on the agenda to consolidate economic integration. 

President Erdoğan stated that Turkey's inclusion in Europe's security strategy initiatives would be beneficial, that the Customs Union should be updated, and that developing cooperation in every field is important.
