Pro-government columnist writes: Which ministers will be replaced?
Hürriyet columnist Abdulkadir Selvi, known for his proximity to the government, shared information he obtained following AKP Chairman and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan's signal of a change in the Cabinet. Noting that there are those who have recently been making an effort to be visible in the media, Selvi stated, "There are even those who leak names to the lobbies, depending on which minister they want to see go or which ministry they want to join."
AKP Chairman and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan gave a message regarding a change in the Cabinet in his statement to journalists on the plane returning from Albania.
In his statement, Erdoğan had said, "In the new process, just as there may be some changes among the deputy chairmen, we will also make our evaluations regarding the Cabinet according to the situation. There may be some changes there as well."
While there is curious anticipation regarding which ministers will be replaced in the Cabinet, a notable assessment on the subject came from Hürriyet columnist Abdulkadir Selvi, who is known for his proximity to the government.
"ERDOĞAN'S STATEMENT HAS TWO PILLARS"
Stating that Erdoğan's remarks have two pillars, Selvi noted the following:
“1, He said, 'There may also be changes in the deputy chairmanships.' When will this happen? The AK Party's congress process has begun. There is a grand congress in April-May 2025. The deputy chairmanships are expected to change after the congress. Previously, the party management would change at the congress, and then a cabinet change would follow. It is not certain that it will be the same this time. But the general expectation is that this tradition will continue. Because a method where some names removed from the party management are evaluated for the Cabinet could be followed.
2, Erdoğan has not made large-scale changes in the Cabinet for a long time. When he formed the new Cabinet after the elections, he had renewed it from scratch, with the exception of two ministers. This time, there is no expectation of a radical change. However, it is expected that names whose performance he deems unsatisfactory will be replaced. It is said that when there is a need, names that are underperforming can be changed without waiting for the grand congress.”
"THERE ARE THOSE WAITING WITH THEIR SUITS READY"
On the other hand, Selvi also mentioned a situation where those with ministerial expectations are mobilizing the lobbies. In his article, he wrote the following:
“There are those who have their suits ready and are waiting, those who are waiting for a call from the Presidential Complex and want no one to occupy their phone line. There are even those who have recently been making an intense effort to be visible in the media. So much so that whoever wants a certain minister to leave or wants to join a certain ministry leaks that name to the lobbies. But at this stage, there is no sound or reliable information about which minister will go or which name will become a minister.”
