Pro-Palestine demonstration in London: Many people detained

The London Metropolitan Police announced in a statement that 40 people were detained yesterday during protests held in front of Downing Street, where the Prime Minister's Office at Number 10 is located, and in front of Parliament, to protest Israel's attacks on tents in Rafah.

The statement reported that the detentions were made due to the obstruction of the road and violations of the Public Order Act.

Noting that 3 police officers were also injured during the incidents, the statement shared that one of the officers was seriously injured in the face after being struck by a bottle thrown from within the crowd. It was noted that the suspect's identity has not yet been determined, but that police investigations are ongoing.

CLASHES HAD OCCURRED

Following the demonstration held yesterday in the street where the Prime Minister's Office at Number 10 is located, upon the call of non-governmental organizations in the UK, a group of protesters blocked the entrance of the street to vehicle traffic and began a sit-in.

The London Metropolitan Police had announced to the demonstrators that they would carry out detentions if the sit-in did not end.

Following the announcement, tension and scuffles occurred between the protesters, who were being attempted to be removed from the street, and the police.

After the scuffles, the demonstrators continued their protest in front of Parliament.

When the police closed traffic at this point, tension and scuffles occurred again between the demonstrators and the police.
