Remarkable statement from Onur Akın following Özgür Özel's 'New Party' message: 'With heavy hearts...'

Elected CHP Chairman Özgür Özel has bid farewell to his party of 34 years, the CHP, two months after the absolute nullity decision, and announced that they will establish a New Party.

Messages of support poured in for Özel, whose farewell speech became a major topic of discussion. One of these messages came from artist Onur Akın.

Onur Akın, who composed songs for the CHP during election periods, stated in a post on his X account, "We are bidding farewell to our ancestral home with heavy hearts and great sadness. Akın had composed the song "Geliyor Kılıçdaroğlu" (Kılıçdaroğlu is Coming) for Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu, who was nominated as the IMM mayoral candidate in 2009. Kılıçdaroğlu, who was elected CHP chairman after Deniz Baykal, later used this song in his election campaigns. 

Artist Onur Akın had requested that his songs not be used following the absolute nullity decision. Addressing Kılıçdaroğlu, Akın had stated, "I request that my songs, which contain your name among the many I have composed for the party, not be used by you and the administration I do not consider legitimate, and that they be removed from your digital platforms. Enough, do not destroy this country, gentlemen! I hereby inform you that I will resort to legal means if the use of my songs continues."
