Following the detention of Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu, CHP Chairman Özgür Özel announced in his speech to the crowd gathered in front of the IMM building in Saraçhane last night that those who are not CHP members can also participate in the election to be held on Sunday, March 23, to determine his party's presidential candidate.
Özel made a call to all citizens and said, "We expect everyone to participate in this election. Let us all together put forward a strong will."

Famous artist Sertab Erener also supported this call on her social media account. In her post, Erener stated the following:
"The scope of the March 23 Sunday vote has been expanded. You will be able to vote even if you are not a CHP member. You can learn where you can vote according to your neighborhood from your local CHP district organization. Come on, let's WRITE HISTORY with someone's word."
