Statement from İYİ Party's İzsiz on AKP: 'I am returning to my home': 'Akşener had insisted'
Seyithan İzsiz, an İYİ Party member whose name was mentioned among those who will join the AKP on its anniversary, made a statement regarding the transfer.
The AKP will celebrate its 23rd anniversary tomorrow. For some time, political circles have been reporting that the AKP would recruit members from other parties on its anniversary.
AKP Deputy Chairman Hamza Dağ had announced that 15 mayors and 2 members of parliament would join their party.
Seyithan İzsiz, who was elected as an Istanbul deputy from the İYİ Party in the May 14 elections, announced in a statement to Habertürk that he would join the AKP.
"I WAS ALREADY AN AK PARTY MEMBER"
İzsiz made the following statements regarding the matter:
"I am returning to my home. I was already an AK Party member. I have worked at all levels since 2003. I last left as an Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality council member.
In the last election, I entered Parliament from the İYİ Party lists upon the insistence of the founding chairwoman of the İYİ Party, Ms. Meral Akşener"
Stating that the İYİ Party could not position itself in the center, İzsiz said, "Undoubtedly, our goal was for the İYİ Party to reach a position where it could be situated in the center.
However, over time, the conviction arose that this would not be possible.
After my resignation, there was an invitation from our home. From now on, we will continue our journey of serving the country within our family," he said.
