Statement from the Ministry of National Defense on the SDF

In the final days of the year, the Ministry of National Defense announced during a briefing with members of the press that the Turkish Armed Forces' counter-terrorism operations, both domestically and across the border, are continuing with increasing intensity.

According to the information provided, three PKK terrorists surrendered to security forces in the last week alone. This brings the total number of terrorists who have surrendered throughout the year to 111. It was noted that a large quantity of weapons, ammunition, and logistical materials were seized and subsequently destroyed, particularly in the regions where Operation Claw-Lock is being conducted.

The ministry also shared data regarding security measures along the border line with the public. Last week, 136 people attempting to cross the border illegally were apprehended, while the passage of 1,186 individuals was prevented. The total figures for 2025 reached 9,942 people apprehended and 66,794 entries prevented. Meanwhile, a total of 1 ton 982 kilograms of narcotics were seized during operations conducted along the Hakkari and Van border lines throughout the year.

EMPHASIS ON 'ONE STATE, ONE ARMY'

The statement issued by the ministry also pointed out that developments in Syria are being closely monitored. It was stated that the Syrian Democratic Forces' continued demands for a federal structure and decentralization make integration with the country's central authority difficult.

The statement highlighted the ongoing cooperation with the Syrian administration based on the principle of "One State, One Army," and emphasized that any constructive step taken to ensure the unity and integrity of Syria will be supported by Turkey.
