Striking comment from AKP's Tayyar on the extended ceasefire: 'We hope we are wrong'

AKP's Şamil Tayyar commented on his social media account regarding the decision to extend the ceasefire between the Damascus administration and the SDF. Stating that he is concerned that the SDF might use the additional time to prepare for a new conflict, Tayyar used the phrase, "we hope we are wrong."

Here is Tayyar's post:

"The Syrian administration announced that they have extended the ceasefire period by 15 days to allow for the evacuation of ISIS detainees to Iraq.

Although this is the apparent reason, we understand that another opportunity is being given to the YPG.

We can estimate that the evacuation process will not take this long.

Although the YPG wanted the ceasefire period to be extended by a month and the US was very insistent, it seems the Syrian administration agreed to half of that.

If we found the YPG to be well-intentioned, we would always support giving peace a chance and would advocate for a longer ceasefire period.

However, just as they did during the 4-day period, they will continue their military buildup, civilian massacres, and perception operations woven with lies to create public pressure.

I wish it had not been extended.

The moments of fear for all innocent civilians—Kurdish, Arab, and Turkmen—will continue for another 15 days.

We hope we are wrong.

May they come to their senses and choose peace, brotherhood, and tranquility."
