Statement from Tepebaşı Mayor Ataç regarding the operation: I am at my post

Making a statement to members of the press in front of the municipal building, Tepebaşı Mayor Dt. Ahmet Ataç said, "As you can see, I am at my post. An operation was carried out at our municipality this morning, but the police officers who came were very courteous; I thank them here.

The process is clear; there will be an investigation process. During this process, we will properly follow all the rights of our colleagues, including those who have been detained, and we demand that these rights be granted. This city is a city of peace; our greatest wish is for this operation to be carried out in peace as well.

In the coming period, just as I have for 25 years, I will continue to manage the municipality impartially, fairly, and equitably; let no one have any concerns about this. Let no one attempt to use this for political purposes; Tepebaşı Municipality will continue on its path as it always has," he stated.

"Eskişehir and the Turkish public woke up to a dawn raid"

Republican People's Party (CHP) Eskişehir Provincial Chair Atty. Talat Yalaz said, "Dawn raids are not things that exist within the normal routine judicial system. We would like to state that this is not a newly initiated investigation, that there is no confidentiality order on the file, and that the file has been ongoing in its current state for a long time in terms of the investigation.

Our colleagues who were detained in the dawn raid today are individuals who had previously given statements by being summoned within the scope of this file. Therefore, there is no legal basis for a dawn raid to have been conducted today. Furthermore, we want to express that we are following the process legally to the end; that we are in contact with our colleagues who are currently in custody and their families, and are following the legal process together with our lawyers; and that we respect the legal process and that everyone should respect the legal process as well."

"We are being careful when making statements regarding the content of the process"

In response to a question from journalists regarding the number of suspects, Chairman Yalaz replied, "There is a discrepancy between the number of people we saw as suspects in the morning hours and the number of people announced by the Chief Public Prosecutor's Office. We have no information on how this number of 60 was reached. As people who respect the law, we are being careful when making statements regarding the content of the legal process. We invite everyone to be careful in this regard, within the framework of the presumption of innocence, and not to engage in efforts to create a different perception by declaring people whose investigations are still ongoing as guilty. We have watched the statement of the Chief Public Prosecutor's Office; we are the legal followers of the process."
