Testimony of Murat Abbas, who benefited from effective remorse, revealed

Kültür A.Ş. General Manager Murat Abbas, who was arrested as part of the 'corruption' investigation conducted by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office into the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality, has provided testimony by benefiting from effective remorse provisions. Abbas's testimony to the prosecutor's office has been revealed.

In his testimony, Abbas stated, "Murat Ongun personally gave me remarks and instructions regarding the awarding of certain advertising media-related business to specific companies. I did not carry out many of these instructions. I tried to do everything in accordance with the procedures. As a result of these pressures, I realized in the 3rd month after I started the job that I could not perform this duty, and I emailed my resignation letter to Murat Ongun, Ertan Yıldız, and Yiğit Özduman. Later, we held a meeting with these three people at a hotel in Kalamış. They persuaded me to continue in my position. I said that I wanted to stay out of advertising business and work only in the field of culture and arts. After this date, they never involved me in advertising tenders."

In the continuation of his testimony, Abbas said, "Organizations related to national holidays and artist production budgets related to large-budget special days were determined entirely by Murat Ongun. The tenders held were checked by the tender control unit and came to me for signature at the final stage. I only signed them. I have no information regarding the transactions made. Unofficially, 7 million TL for ventilation and roofing, 8 million TL for the communication coordination office's glass, 22 million TL for labor, and 6 million TL paid to a person named Kahraman were included in the budget. I want to benefit from the provisions of effective remorse. I have had no consensus of action or opinion regarding the crime with the other suspects mentioned in any way. Responsibility has been attributed to me because my signature is on some documents. I request to be released," he stated.
