The 'Hamas' rift in the Diyanet: They declared it a 'terrorist organization' and blamed the Süleymancıs

The Presidency of Religious Affairs's affiliate Turkish-Islamic Union for Religious Affairs (DİTİB) Hamas as a 'terrorist' organization, it has emerged.

Stating that immediately after the incident, the German Interior Ministry called on DİTİB and other organizations to recognize Hamas as a 'terrorist organization,' Kuzey noted that they shared their position regarding the attack with state officials, stating,  "We explained the situation from our own perspective"he said.

'THE TEXT WAS VERY HARSH'

Claiming that the declaration was prepared at the request of the Süleymancıs, DİTİB President Kuzey stated the following:

"The representative of the Süleymancıs said, 'Let's issue a press release.' Then a prepared text was placed in front of us. It was very harsh. It did not mention the oppression experienced by the Palestinians at all. After our insistence, we tried to make the text a bit more reasonable, or at least acceptable, albeit reluctantly."

COUNTER-DECLARATION STATEMENT

Stating that because the text from October 16 did not reflect DİTİB's views, they issued a counter-declaration on October 19 through the Coordination Council of Muslims in Germany (KRM), which is seen as the umbrella organization for Muslim foundations and associations in Germany, and that this text placed more emphasis on 'Gaza,' but that the foundation known for its closeness to the Süleymancıs did not sign the text, Kuzey said, "Unfortunately, after this incident, we decided to express our own views through the KRM, and the Süleymancıs not only refused to sign but also decided to leave the KRM, which they were among the founders of."
