TKP General Secretary Kemal Okuyan harshly criticizes Akar's remarks: 'If they have started saying be afraid...'

Former Chief of General Staff and Minister of National Defense Hulusi Akar's remarks, "The purpose of education is not knowledge; it is the fear of God and shame before others," are on the agenda.

TKP General Secretary Kemal Okuyan reacted to Hulusi Akar's words in a post on his X account. Stating that the purpose of education is to raise people who defend the good, the beautiful, and the just, and who discuss, produce, and question, Okuyan emphasized in his post that "The winner of the difficult struggle between the dark love of the enemies of science and humanity's desire and will to reach enlightenment is clear."

Okuyan's post is as follows:

'IF THEY HAVE STARTED SAYING IT IS ENOUGH TO BE AFRAID, YOU DON'T NEED TO KNOW'...

Former Chief of General Staff and Minister Hulusi Akar said, "The purpose of education is not knowledge, it is the fear of God and shame before others." In a country rife with poverty, injustice, and hostility toward women and children, if the guardians of this order have started saying "it is enough to be afraid, you don't need to know," it means their situation is quite desperate. Of course, the only purpose of education is not to acquire knowledge.

Raising people who defend the good, the beautiful, and the just, and who discuss, produce, and question, is a complex social task. But the concern of Akar and his associates is that the source of evils, injustices, and inequalities should not be learned. That is why they want to implement a continuous blackout. They might as well close the schools entirely. Let them continue their path with the Directorate of Religious Affairs television and Friday sermons.

'BIGOTRY ALWAYS WANTS MORE'

Bigotry always wants more. On the other hand, every attempt to sever the relationship between humanity and the pursuit of science, art, equality, and freedom is doomed to failure.

The winner of the difficult struggle between the dark love of the enemies of science and humanity's desire and will to reach enlightenment is clear. (By the way, we need to thank Mr. Akar for his candor. Regarding fear and shame...)
