Turkey's most populous district has been determined: Its population has exceeded 1 million, leaving 60 provinces behind
Turkey's most populous district has been determined. According to the data, the population of Esenyurt has now surpassed that of 60 provinces.
Housing sales data recorded throughout 2025 across Turkey has highlighted the leading districts of Istanbul.
According to the released statistics, one out of every eight homes sold changed hands within the borders of Esenyurt.
While the highest number of homes nationwide were sold in Istanbul, Ankara, and Izmir, Ardahan, Bayburt, and Hakkari were the provinces with the lowest sales figures. It is observed that the demand for housing in major cities continues to rise.
Esenyurt took the lead in the housing market of Istanbul and Turkey with a total of 34 thousand 315 home sales throughout the year. The district was followed by other rapidly developing Istanbul districts such as Pendik and Başakşehir.
POPULATION EXCEEDED 1 MILLION
Having gained district status in 2008 and receiving heavy migration, the population of Esenyurt has now exceeded 1 million. Thus, Esenyurt has surpassed 60 provinces in Turkey, becoming the most striking region in terms of urbanization and demographic growth.
