Verdict in Lieutenant Ebru Eroğlu's case for reinstatement to the TAF

Lieutenant Ebru Eroğlu, who graduated first in her class from the Military Academy on August 30, 2024, and was dismissed for chanting "We are the soldiers of Mustafa Kemal" with her classmates during the graduation ceremony, has faced an unfavorable outcome in the lawsuit she filed to return to the Turkish Armed Forces (TAF). The Ankara 4th Administrative Court rejected Eroğlu's request on the grounds that she would fall behind her peers in seniority. Eroğlu's lawyers have appealed the decision.

According to a report by Ceren Bala Teke from T24, the appeal petition stated that Eroğlu had led the recitation of the Officer's Oath after the ceremony and that evaluating this as behavior hindering service was unlawful. Furthermore, it was alleged that there might have been other motivations behind the delayed initiation of the disciplinary investigation.

The petition also stated that these images were presented as a traditional ritual on TRT television following the ceremony and that the commanders watched the event calmly. It was suggested that this situation might be one of the reasons why a disciplinary investigation was not launched immediately after the event.
