The Public Security Branch Homicide Bureau teams have launched an initiative to apprehend the perpetrators of unsolved murders from past years. One of the files reopened as part of this effort was a murder case that took place in Kadıköy in 2005.

HE KILLED HER UNCLE

The incident occurred on November 22, 2005. According to allegations, Ali Özey came home intoxicated and argued with his wife, Ayşe Özey.

Following this argument, Ayşe Özey called her uncle, captain Sami Akbulut, for help. Ali Özey began arguing with his wife's uncle when he arrived at the house. During the altercation, the murder suspect stabbed both his wife and her uncle, Sami Akbulut. Sami Akbulut, who received 22 stab wounds, lost his life. Ayşe Özey was severely wounded in the incident. The murder suspect vanished into thin air after the event.

CAUGHT AFTER 19 YEARS

The murder suspect disappeared after the incident. Despite all investigations, the suspect could not be located.

Working to apprehend the perpetrators of past murders, the Public Security Branch Homicide Bureau teams determined through their investigations that the fugitive suspect, Ali Özey, was working at a business in Pendik under a fake identity. Tracking his movements, police teams captured the suspect in an operation.

SENT TO THE COURTHOUSE

It was revealed that after committing the murder in 2005, the suspect hid for a while in a village in Adana. It was learned that after returning to Istanbul from Adana, the suspect began living under a fake identity issued in the name of his cousin. The suspect, who was referred to the courthouse after processing, claimed he committed the murder for 'honor'.
