New statement from Şener Üşümezsoy following 'alarming aftershocks': There is no difference

Prof. Dr. Şener Üşümezsoy, who continues to be a subject of debate with his statements following the 6.2-magnitude earthquake in Silivri, has made a new statement after the 4.3-magnitude earthquake in Büyükçekmece that unsettled citizens.

Connecting to a Habertürk broadcast to evaluate the aftershocks, Üşümezsoy said that the 4.3-magnitude earthquake was an aftershock and should be characterized as the continuation of an expected process. 

Şener Üşümezsoy stated that this earthquake did not occur on a different fault line and spoke as follows:

"Everyone is panicking over an earthquake that occurred on the western part of the fault line we mapped and wrote a book about 20 years ago...

The earthquakes happening today are on the same fault; in fact, there are no earthquakes on the ridge opposite Avcılar...

Aftershocks are lined up on the fault in the Kumburgaz basin, but there is an attempt to connect them to the other fault; no such fault exists...

All the aftershocks are developing just as I wrote in my book...

The earthquakes today are those! The Silivri basin is very deep and generates high-magnitude earthquakes. Activity there remains more active, and aftershocks are developing on the side wall of this wall.

The alignment of the aftershocks continued on the fault just west of Büyükçekmece. There is nothing extraordinary there! It came out a bit larger today, but they are the same aftershocks...

There is a Kumburgaz fault that we have been writing about for twenty years... This earthquake is no different from the earthquakes that occurred in the first days..."
