Ödemiş Mayor returns to the site where he filmed a video 2 days ago: 'There is nothing left to burn'

It has been announced that the forest fire in Ödemiş, İzmir, has been brought under control, but images from the region show that there is nothing left to burn.

Ödemiş Mayor Mustafa Turan had gone to the fire zone 2 days ago to issue a call for help.

Turan returned to the area where he filmed the video and made a new post.

Stating "There is nothing left to burn," Turan noted the following:

"The fire that scorched our hearts is under control. Cooling efforts are continuing in the region without interruption. We have just learned the news that our forest worker Ragıp Şahin, who was injured in the fire, has been martyred. I wish God's mercy upon him and patience for his family and colleagues.

In this great disaster, we lost our lives, our forests turned to ash, and our homes burned. We have experienced great sorrow. We will certainly never forget the self-sacrificing efforts, the great collective cooperation, and solidarity during this difficult period. We will heal the wounds together. However, we must always be careful and cautious so that we do not experience such great pain again."
