The blockade in Istanbul continues following the detention of IMM Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu. While the Taksim metro station remains closed today, it was observed that speeches by IMM Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu were being broadcast in metro stations.
IMM Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu was detained in a dawn operation yesterday morning as part of an investigation into 'terrorism' and 'corruption' launched against the municipality.
Following İmamoğlu's detention, a state of emergency was effectively declared in Istanbul. The Istanbul Governor's Office, which banned meetings, demonstrations, and press statements in the city for 4 days, had announced that the Taksim Station on the M2 Yenikapı-Hacıosman Metro Line would be closed until further notice.
"I WILL WIN THIS WAR"
While the Taksim Station remains closed to citizens today, speeches made by IMM Mayor İmamoğlu during his election campaign were played at intervals in metro stations.
The speech includes the following statements:
"Let them file not 5, but 25 lawsuits. That ballot box will be set up. We will give the nation's rights back to the nation. I give my word of honor and integrity that I will win this war."
