Unprecedented negligence! Heavily damaged building demolished while students were on break!
In a school in Hatay, a heavily damaged building was demolished while students were in the courtyard during their break. The terrifying moments experienced by the students were recorded second by second.
Demolition work on damaged buildings continues in Hatay, one of the cities most affected by the February 6 earthquakes centered in Kahramanmaraş.
Footage recorded in the Muradiye neighborhood of Hatay's İskenderun district has sparked outrage on social media.
Crews began work to demolish a heavily damaged building across from the school. However, students were on their break at the time.
As the demolition began without any precautions, the area was engulfed in a cloud of dust once the building collapsed. Students who were in the courtyard at the time of the demolition began to flee in panic and screams as the smoke began to envelop the yard.
The footage, recorded on a mobile phone, was also shared on social media.
