WHO IS SİNEM DEDETAŞ?
Sinem Dedetaş was born in Eskişehir in 1981. After graduating from Istanbul Technical University (İTÜ) with a degree in Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering, she completed her master's degree in the same university's Department of Naval Architecture and Marine Machinery Engineering. She began her professional career as a structural analysis and design engineer at national and international firms. Together with her husband, they founded their own company, producing innovation and R&D projects in the maritime and shipbuilding sector.
Appointed as General Manager of Istanbul City Lines (Şehir Hatları A.Ş.) in 2019, Dedetaş increased female employment there and reactivated the Haliç Shipyard. In 2023, she was elected Chair of the Waterborne Transport Committee of the International Association of Public Transport (UITP). Resigning from her position at the IMM in December 2023, Dedetaş was nominated by the CHP for the Üsküdar Mayoralty and was elected Mayor of Üsküdar in the 2024 local elections, receiving 49.92 percent of the votes.
