World Health Organization: 10 children recorded as having died of starvation in Gaza
World Health Organization (WHO) spokesperson Christian Lindmeier stated that a hospital has officially recorded the deaths of 10 children due to "starvation" in the Gaza Strip.
WHO spokesperson Christian Lindmeier, emphasizing the need for a humanitarian ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, said, "According to official records documented by a hospital, 10 children are reported to have died of starvation in Gaza."
Lindmeier stated that life-sustaining services in Gaza have been almost completely severed.
UN Geneva Office spokesperson Alessandra Vellucci and UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) spokesperson Jens Laerke made assessments during the UN Geneva Office's weekly press briefing.
Regarding the attack in which more than 100 civilians were killed by Israel while waiting for aid in Gaza, Laerke noted that these aid trucks were not coordinated with the UN.
Laerke drew attention to the dire situation regarding food security in the Gaza Strip, particularly in the north, stating, "At the current trajectory, if nothing changes, famine is almost inevitable."
Lindmeier pointed out that the health system in Gaza is in a very difficult situation, emphasizing that almost all life-sustaining services have been cut off.
