Age requirement for interest-free marriage loan announced! When will applications begin?

Minister of Family and Social Services Mahinur Özdemir Göktaş responded to journalists' questions following the Cabinet Meeting held at the Presidential Palace under the chairmanship of AKP Chairman and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.

When a journalist reminded her of President Erdoğan's announcement that applications for the "Family and Youth Fund" would begin on February 15, Minister Göktaş stated that applications would start being accepted via the Ministry of Family and Social Services' website as of that date.

Stating that the earthquake zone has been designated as the pilot region for the Family and Youth Fund, Göktaş said:

"We utilized international criteria while creating the Family and Youth Fund. However, we specifically relaxed and differentiated the conditions for the earthquake zone. In the first stage, we will accept applications from our youth in Adıyaman, the İslahiye and Nurdağı districts of Gaziantep, as well as Hatay, Kahramanmaraş, and Malatya. In the coming period, we will expand the program across all of Turkey to cover all our youth. We aimed to support our youth both in their marriage dreams and their various projects. We will offer an interest-free loan opportunity to our youth who are taking the first step toward building a family. With this support, our youth will also be able to realize their own projects. With the economic support portion of the program, a loan of 150 thousand liras with a total maturity of 48 months and a 2-year grace period will be offered to those whose applications are approved. We will carry out the process in proportion to the money accumulated in the fund."

AGE REQUIREMENT FOR INTEREST-FREE MARRIAGE LOAN ANNOUNCED

When asked if there was an age criterion in the application requirements, Göktaş said, "Examinations regarding age groups have been conducted. Young people who want to benefit from the fund must be between 18-29 years old as of the application date, meaning they must not have turned 30."

"WE WILL INVEST IN THE FUTURE OF OUR YOUTH"

In response to another journalist's question about whether there is an income criterion for those who want to benefit from the fund, Göktaş replied, "Intensive feasibility studies were conducted, and international criteria were examined. A criterion has been set that the total income of the couple must not exceed 2 times the gross minimum wage so that a large number of our youth can benefit from the fund."

Pointing out that those who want to benefit from the fund must have at least 2 months and at most 6 months remaining until their official wedding date as of the application date, Göktaş said that applications would be evaluated carefully.

Stating that those who meet the necessary conditions after the evaluations will benefit from the fund, Göktaş announced, "The young people who will benefit from the fund must commit to utilizing the pre-marriage education and counseling services our Ministry will provide, as well as the education and counseling services to be provided after marriage. With this fund, we will invest in the future of our youth using the income to be generated from Turkey's underground resources."
