Behind-the-scenes news from AKP camp to disappoint retirees
At the AKP's consultation camp in Sakarya, members of parliament demanded an increase in pensions and the strengthening of economic support for low-income citizens. It was noted that the economic management team remained distant toward salary increases, citing budget balances, while the second opening process dubbed 'Terror-Free Turkey' and various legal regulations were also on the meeting's agenda.
At the consultation camp organized by the AKP in Sakarya, members of parliament shared their views and demands on various topics, primarily the economy. While the economic difficulties faced by retirees and low-income segments were brought to the agenda during the meetings, the second opening process dubbed 'Terror-Free Turkey,' daytime television programs, social media regulations, and hobby gardens were also among the topics discussed.
DEMAND FROM MPS REGARDING PENSIONS
During the meetings, members of parliament expressed expectations for increasing pension payments and strengthening the support provided to producers.
According to information obtained, the economic management team did not respond warmly to these demands, assessing that salary increases could create an additional burden on budget balances.
PREPARATIONS FOR LEGAL REGULATION FOR THE SECOND OPENING PROCESS
According to a report by the pro-government Türkiye Gazetesi, the second opening process, referred to as 'Terror-Free Turkey,' was also brought up at the camp. In the evaluations regarding the process, opinions were expressed that the work should be carried out carefully.
It was stated that a legislative proposal on the matter is expected to be submitted to Parliament before the Turkish Grand National Assembly (TBMM) goes on recess, and that President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has given instructions in this direction. It was noted that the AKP is working on a legislative proposal consisting of 12 to 13 articles, and that the regulation could take shape in July.
DAYTIME PROGRAMS AND SOCIAL MEDIA PROPOSALS
Daytime television programs were also evaluated during the meetings. Some members of parliament expressed their demands for these programs to be taken off the air.
On the other hand, proposals to increase sanctions against posts on social media deemed to contain hate and hostility were also brought to the agenda at the meeting.
HOBBY GARDENS WERE ALSO ON THE TABLE
Evaluations regarding hobby gardens were also made at the consultation camp. It was stated that construction would not be permitted on forest and agricultural lands around metropolitan areas, and it was conveyed that the AKP administration has adopted an approach toward the demolition of illegal structures within this scope.
