Economic management calls emergency meeting following nullity ruling
Markets were thrown into turmoil following the court's absolute nullity ruling regarding the CHP convention. The Ministry of Treasury and Finance has decided to hold an emergency meeting tomorrow morning.
The 36th Civil Chamber of the Ankara Regional Court of Justice (BAM) has ruled in the CHP convention case that Özgür Özel and the party administration be suspended from duty as a precautionary measure, and that Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu and his administration take over the duties.
EMERGENCY MEETING DECISION
Following the court's announcement of the ruling, the stock market crashed. This development also prompted the government to take action. The Ministry of Treasury and Finance has decided to hold an emergency meeting. The following statement was made by the Ministry of Treasury and Finance;
"The Financial Stability Committee will meet under the chairmanship of our Minister of Treasury and Finance, Mr. Mehmet Şimşek, on Friday, May 22, 2026, at 08:30.
The meeting is planned to evaluate the effects of current developments in financial markets on the economy and the steps taken and to be taken to ensure the efficient, healthy, and uninterrupted functioning of the markets. Respectfully announced to the public."
