SGK responds to claims that '650,000 people's pensions were cancelled': The real figure has been announced

The Social Security Institution (SGK) has responded to reports that have recently received widespread coverage in the press, claiming that "650,000 people's retirement has been cancelled in the last 5 years."

The institution categorically rejected the claims, stating that they do not reflect the truth. The SGK announced that the number of cancellations is much lower.

In the official statement from the SGK, it was stated that "The claim appearing in some media outlets that '650,000 people's retirement has been cancelled in the last 5 years' absolutely does not reflect the truth." Emphasizing that the public should not be concerned, the institution shared the actual number.

According to the institution's statement, as a result of audits and investigations, a total of 12,209 people's retirement has been cancelled within the last 5 years. The SGK stated that all data on this matter is based on official audits and investigations, and concluded its statement by saying, "Respectfully announced to the public."

The SGK's statement did not include details regarding the reasons for the cancellation of retirements.

However, retirement rights can generally be cancelled as a result of audits conducted for reasons such as "fake insurance" and "fraudulent divorce."
