Google, Amazon, and OpenAI sign EU AI Pact: Meta rejects the agreement

The AI Pact, a voluntary framework prepared by the European Union (EU), has been signed by more than 100 companies. Among those joining the pact are 'most' of the leading firms in the field of artificial intelligence.

The European Commission announced that 116 companies from various sectors, including technology, telecommunications, healthcare, banking, automotive, and aviation, have signed the EU AI Pact.

The statement noted that through this pact, companies have made voluntary commitments in areas such as governance strategy, identification of high-risk systems, and awareness-raising ahead of the implementation of the EU AI Act.

WHICH COMPANIES SIGNED THE AGREEMENT?

The companies that signed the pact include industry leaders such as Microsoft, Google, Amazon, OpenAI, Hewlett Packard, IBM, Lenovo, Samsung, Qualcomm, SAP, and Adobe.

It was noted that Meta, the owner of Facebook and Instagram, did not join the pact.

The EU AI Act is expected to enter into force in August 2026. The pact aims to ensure compliance in the field of artificial intelligence during this transition period.
