ITO announces products with the highest and lowest retail price changes

In Istanbul, zucchini became the product with the highest price increase in December, rising by 93.82 percent.

ITO announces products with the highest and lowest retail price changes

The Istanbul Chamber of Commerce (ITO), in order to ensure market transparency and inform the public, has announced the products with the highest and lowest retail price changes in Istanbul last December, along with their prices and rates of change.
While the retail prices of 119 out of the 242 products included in the ITO Istanbul Wage Earners' Cost of Living Index increased, the prices of 14 products fell, and the prices of 109 products remained unchanged.

Zucchini price increased by 93.82 percent

In December, zucchini, which is in the fresh and dried vegetables and fruits subgroup of the food expenditure group, was the product with the highest price increase at 93.82 percent.

Some of the other products that experienced price increases were; cucumber with 67.32 percent, green beans with 37.58 percent, fresh grapes with 36.04 percent, and green peppers with 34.85 percent from the fresh and dried vegetables and fruits subgroup of food expenditures, and medicines with 27.09 percent from the health expenditures group.

Orange price became 12.59 percent cheaper in December

In December 2023, the price of oranges, which is in the fresh and dried vegetables and fruits subgroup of food expenditures, declined by 12.59 percent, making it the product with the largest price decrease.

Other products that saw a decrease in price were; porcelain kitchenware with 7.14 percent from the household goods expenditure group, fish with 6.46 percent and bananas with 5.22 percent from food expenditures, and kerosene with 1.89 percent from the housing expenditure group.
