Lowest civil servant pension could reach 35,000 TL! 'If we win the case...'

The government's 2023 promise of an 8,077 TL flat-rate salary increase for civil servants and retired civil servants was implemented for active civil servants but was not extended to retirees. Following this, Seyfettin Çilesiz, Honorary Member of the 7th Criminal Chamber of the Court of Cassation, filed a lawsuit demanding that the raise in question also be granted to retired civil servants.

According to a report by Erdoğan Süzer from Sözcü, it is stated that if the demand is accepted as a result of the lawsuit, the lowest pension could rise to the 36,000 TL level.

REMINDER THAT ‘CIVIL SERVANT AND RETIREE INCREASES GO IN PARALLEL’

Çilesiz's lawyer, Ali Erdem Gündoğan, stated that salary increases for active civil servants and retired civil servants have always progressed in parallel, and that providing a raise only to civil servants without providing a proportional increase to retirees violates the Public Servants Trade Unions Act No. 4688 and Articles 2, 10, 11, 55, and 60 of the Constitution.

RAISE AMOUNT TO BE UPDATED WITH JULY 2025 COEFFICIENTS

In the petition submitted to the court, Gündoğan stated that if the 8,077 TL flat-rate raise demanded for retired civil servants is calculated with the July 2025 coefficients, an additional increase of at least 20,000 TL should be made to the retirees' monthly payments. Gündoğan also used the expression, "If we win the case, there will be no obstacle to the lowest civil servant pension rising to 35,000 liras."
