According to data from the Southeastern Anatolia Exporters' Associations, 151 million 568 thousand dollars worth of pistachios were exported to 96 countries in 2023.

While 24 million 250 thousand dollars in revenue was generated from pistachio exports in the January-March period of last year, this figure rose to 73 million 790 thousand dollars in the same period this year.

Italy leads the list of countries to which Turkey exports the most pistachios. Having exported pistachios to 69 countries in the first 3 months of this year, Turkey sold 12 million 145 thousand dollars worth of pistachios to Italy in the first quarter.

Italy was followed in pistachio exports by Germany with 11 million 835 thousand dollars and Iraq with 9 million 116 thousand dollars.

Şanlıurfa Commodity Exchange Assembly President İsa Kızıldemir stated that the significant increase in pistachio exports in the first period of the year is encouraging.

Noting that pistachios are described as "green gold" by farmers in Şanlıurfa and Gaziantep, the cities where they are grown the most, Kızıldemir said, "Pistachios are a strategic product for our country. Pistachios, which have a very wide range of uses, provide earnings for producers, industrialists, and exporters due to their economic return. The export figures for the first quarter have pleased us, and I believe that these figures will be carried much higher with the new season pistachios, which will be harvested towards the middle of the year."
