Minister Işıkhan announces: Seizure proceedings initiated against municipalities with SGK debt
Minister of Labor and Social Security Vedat Işıkhan announced that seizure proceedings have been initiated against municipalities with Social Security Institution (SGK) debts. Stating that they accepted a real estate offer from Küçükçekmece Municipality in exchange for its 1 billion 65 million lira debt, Işıkhan stated that the debts would be collected at the source.
Providing information regarding the seizure proceedings against municipalities with SGK debt, Minister of Labor and Social Security Vedat Işıkhan stated that they approach all municipalities equally and that seizure proceedings have begun. Minister Işıkhan said, "We accepted the real estate offer from Küçükçekmece Municipality in exchange for its 1 billion 65 million lira debt and completed our collection. We do not look at it as this municipality or that municipality."
Meeting with journalists following the Economic Coordination Board (EKK) meeting to answer questions on the agenda, Minister of Labor and Social Security Vedat Işıkhan, in response to a question regarding the premium debts of municipalities to the Social Security Institution, stated that the SGK debts of municipalities, which were 96 billion lira since the March 31 elections, have now reached 160 billion.

WE ACCEPTED THE REAL ESTATE OFFER FOR KÜÇÜKÇEKMECE MUNICIPALITY'S DEBT
Pointing out that interest accrues every day on unpaid insurance premiums, Işıkhan provided the following information:
"We approach all our municipalities equally; we are trying to carry out the collection of SGK premiums without any party discrimination. We accepted the real estate offer from Küçükçekmece Municipality in exchange for its 1 billion 65 million lira debt and completed our collection. We do not look at it as this municipality or that municipality. I am the minister for 85 million people. One of my most important goals is the payment of the premium debts our municipalities owe to the SGK. We had announced the first 10 municipalities, the municipalities with over 1 billion in debt. Of course, we have also carried out the process of bringing about seizures here. However, we also need to evaluate the steps we have taken previously."

WE WILL COLLECT PREMIUM DEBTS AT THE SOURCE
Minister Işıkhan continued his speech as follows;
"We made contact, issued payment orders, and despite our SGK provincial directors in all 81 provinces contacting these municipalities one-on-one, there were still municipalities that did not pay their debts. We carried out seizure proceedings, particularly for our Adana and Mersin Metropolitan Municipalities, by placing liens on their bank deposit accounts and using other methods based on the authority granted to us by law and legislation. Beyond this, as you know, a Presidential Decree was published. We will now collect the premium debts of municipalities, their subsidiaries, and related organizations at the source. Since we will collect them at the source, there will no longer be any need to enter into such a process. I would like to state this specifically."
