New era in gold trading: It will now be mandatory, those who do not comply will face fines!

A new regulation is being introduced for gold buying and selling transactions in 2025.

As reported by Sputnik, the Ministry of Treasury and Finance has introduced a requirement to present identification for purchases exceeding 185 thousand TL. Jewelers who conduct transactions without identification will be subject to fines.

FINANCE TEAMS WILL INSPECT

The regulation aims to prevent money laundering, fraud, and tax loss. With jewelers requesting identification, the transactions made will be recorded and inspected by finance teams. However, it is noted that although the practice was introduced last year, it has not been fully implemented in many regions.

The Ankara Chamber of Jewelers points out that citizens may feel uneasy due to the request for identification. For this reason, it is suggested that public service announcements be prepared for informational purposes. In the statement made by the Chamber, it was said, “Informing the citizens correctly will ensure that the practice is carried out more effectively.”
