Retirees' expectations for holiday bonuses are rising

Ahead of Ramadan Bayram, retirees are eagerly awaiting the amount of their holiday bonus. There is talk that the bonus for 2025 could be between 3,500 and 4,000 Turkish Lira.

With only a few days left until Ramadan Bayram, retirees are impatient to learn the amount of the holiday bonus they will receive. It is stated that the bonus for 2025 could range between 3,500 and 4,000 Turkish Lira. However, no official announcement has been made yet.

Minister of Labor and Social Security Vedat Işıkhan stated that work on the retiree holiday bonus is ongoing, but it is too early to provide a definitive figure at this time. While this statement has increased retirees' expectations, the lack of concrete information keeps the uncertainty alive.

SGK Chief Inspector İsa Karakaş shared insider information he received from Ankara, suggesting that the bonus could be around 3,720 Turkish Lira. Emphasizing that the situation of retirees must be taken into account, Karakaş said, "Let us not play with the hopes of retirees." Additionally, there is talk that the bonus could rise to 4,000 Turkish Lira with the intervention of President and AKP Chairman Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.

NOT ON THE AGENDA OF THE ECONOMIC COORDINATION COUNCIL

It was expected that holiday bonuses would be on the agenda at the Economic Coordination Council meeting to be held on February 21. However, Vice President Cevdet Yılmaz stated that the meeting's agenda would cover different topics and that the holiday bonus would not be discussed there.

İsa Karakaş noted that the bonus would be valid for both Ramadan Bayram and Kurban Bayram. He said, "3,500 TL is seen as the lowest increase, the expected figure is 3,720 TL, but with the intervention of our President, the holiday bonus could be 4,000 TL."

The issue of holiday bonuses for retirees will be shaped by economic developments and the decisions to be taken by the government. For now, an amount between 3,500 and 4,000 Turkish Lira is expected.
