The Ministry of Trade's Advertising Board has completed its investigation into certain LIFE IN brand oil products sold at a chain of cosmetics and personal care stores. The Board decided to impose a suspension penalty on the advertisements, concluding that the product packaging creates a misleading impression for consumers.
According to information shared on social media by Bekir Kaplan, the Ministry's Press and Public Relations Advisor, it was determined that sunflower oil was also present in the ingredients of eight products marketed as tea tree, lavender, thyme, peppermint, eucalyptus, orange, rosemary, and rose oil.
The investigation concluded that the expressions and visuals used on the packaging of the products in question created the impression that the products consisted of a single type of oil. Therefore, it was stated that the promotions were in violation of the Regulation on Commercial Advertising and Unfair Commercial Practices and the Law on the Protection of Consumers No. 6502.
Kaplan stated that inspections will continue with determination to ensure that consumers have access to accurate information and do not encounter misleading promotions while shopping.
