The week's winning and losing investment vehicles: Stock market finishes at the top, gold is racing toward a record!

While the BIST 100 index gained 2.43 percent, gold and the dollar also saw gains. The best-performing investment vehicle was stock funds. The euro, however, closed the week with a decline.

Stocks traded on Borsa Istanbul provided an average return of 2.43 percent to investors on a weekly basis. While increases in the foreign exchange and gold markets drew attention, there was a limited pullback in the euro.

The BIST 100 index fluctuated between 9,032.54 and 9,421.36 points throughout the week, finishing the week at 9,390.51 points, a gain of 2.43 percent compared to the previous week.

Notable increases were also observed in price movements at the Grand Bazaar. The gram selling price of 24-karat bullion gold closed the week at 4,150 liras, an increase of 2.72 percent. During the same period, Republic gold rose by 2.69 percent to reach 28,055 liras. Quarter gold also saw a weekly gain of 2.67 percent and began to be sold at 6,951 liras.

On the foreign exchange front, the US dollar rose by 0.49 percent to 38.7450 TL, while the euro fell by 0.38 percent to 43.7070 TL.

A busy week was also left behind for investment funds. While there was a 1.66 percent increase in value across funds in general, pension funds also provided a return of 1.82 percent to their investors. Looking at fund types, the star of this week was "stock" funds with a 2.64 percent increase.
