Psychiatrist Dr. Gülseren Budayıcıoğlu: 'We women are forgiving'

Participating in a talk organized by the Tepebaşı Municipality and the Tepebaşı Healthy Cities Council, author and psychiatrist Dr. Gülseren Budayıcıoğlu discussed her recently published book, 'Invisible Women'.

Following the talk, Budayıcıoğlu signed copies of her book for her fans.

'THERE IS A POWER WITHIN WOMEN THAT NO ONE SEES'

Speaking about her latest book, 'Invisible Women', Budayıcıoğlu said, "In this book, I wrote about how young girls are raised in homes across very different segments of our country, from the most remote corners of Anatolia to the heart of Istanbul, Ankara, and Eskişehir. Sometimes, we think that even if they suffered a lot in childhood, thank God they survived and reached a certain age, so they will save themselves. But that is not the case.

There is a mathematical rule: however you learned something as a child, it is very difficult to change it later. There is truly a destiny outside of us. But there is also a destiny that we can change.

There are very frequent crossroads in our lives. Recognize them very well. Ask yourself the question first so that we can get to know you well. We need to know if they changed your destiny or if they prevented certain events. Afterwards, we forgive everyone anyway. We women are forgiving. There is a power within women that no one sees. Because women have lived while being oppressed for millions of years, each of the girls you read about in the book 'Invisible Women' is somewhere out there.

'SUFFERING AS A CHILD...'

Suffering as a child and being exposed to violence is terrible for a child, but it exists in our country. There are so many young girls who experience these situations. They begin to learn how to struggle with life the moment they open their eyes. As a result of that struggle, they can also achieve success," she said, providing examples from certain sections of her book.

In addition to Tepebaşı Mayor Ahmet Ataç, the talk where Budayıcıoğlu discussed her latest book, 'Invisible Women', was attended by Tepebaşı Healthy Cities Council President Hüseyin Akçar, Tepebaşı Municipal Council members, and numerous citizens.
