What is the status of hotels ahead of the Eid al-Adha holiday? Statement released
Occupancy rates reaching up to 80 percent for the Eid al-Adha holiday in Antalya already indicate that the city will reach accommodation numbers in June that have not been seen in previous years.
Standing out with its natural beauty, historical sites, and high-quality service, Antalya welcomed 2 million 66 thousand 962 foreign tourists in the first four months of 2024, a 14 percent increase compared to the same period last year.
In the city, which also receives demand from the domestic market, reservations for the Eid al-Adha holiday have picked up due to schools closing on June 14.
Hotels in Antalya are expected to reach occupancy levels in June due to the holiday that were not seen in previous years.
Professional Hotel Managers Association President Hakan Saatçioğlu stated that the tourism season, which they started quickly, is going very well and that they have hosted more than 2 million tourists in four months.
'DESPITE A 6 PERCENT DECLINE...'
Pointing out that occupancy rates in hotels are at the desired level, Saatçioğlu said, "Some hotels are much fuller than last year, while others are at normal levels. We are having a good season, there is a good flow of reservations. Germans, in particular, are maintaining their first-place position. As of April, 540 thousand Germans have arrived. There is a 20 percent increase compared to last year. Despite a 6 percent decline, Russia is in second place with 366 thousand 783 visitors."
Drawing attention to the 30 percent increase in the British market, Saatçioğlu stated that a significant increase has also been recorded in the number of tourists coming from Poland.
'THERE WILL BE SERIOUS ACTIVITY IN THE DOMESTIC MARKET'
Emphasizing that the intensity has increased with the warming of the weather, Saatçioğlu continued as follows:
"Holiday reservations are very good, hotels are already 80 percent full. In addition to the foreign market, which is going very well, there will be serious activity in the domestic market. That is why we feel comfortable. We have set aside a portion of our hotels for the domestic market. The Ramadan Feast holiday went well, and Eid al-Adha will be much more active.
The fact that the holiday coincides with the summer season and the weather has warmed up provides an advantage. This year, the holidays came one after another and all of them were active. There was Easter, the Dutch holiday, then Nowruz and the Ramadan Feast. The Eid al-Adha holiday will be full and will create a doping effect for tourism. The current trend is very good."
'HIGH DEMAND FROM GERMANY'
Association of Turkish Travel Agencies Mediterranean Regional Representative Board President Rıza Perçin also said that the holiday coincides with the high season in tourism.
Stating that there may be difficulty in finding space in some regions, Perçin said, "Brand regions will be 100 percent full. We expect even regions that do not receive much demand to be 75-80 percent full. There is also high demand from Germany. It is already difficult to find space, especially in Kaş and Kalkan."
